Time flies …and suddenly it’s 2017

So it’s been two years since my last post, wow, and as I’ve noticed on other blogs, a few of us have realised that we’ve slacked off on the online world, and although it is January so I should be making a New Years Resolution, this is not it. So I promise to not forget about you for another 2 years, how does that sound? Brilliant.

So what have I been up to in the last 2 years, oh gee, where to start! Well baby number 8 is 7 months old, baby number 1 is 16 in a few weeks, there’s been soccer and ballet and Girl Guides, and babies and childcare and school, and work and breastfeeding and pumping and generally not sleeping, but its’ been good.

So what new hobbies have I got, well I’ve learned to knit, this is not new to me technically, as I actually learnt to knit from my grandmother when I was about 8, then I discovered the needle and thread and fabric, and by age 12 I had discovered the sewing machine as well. So the knitting needles got lost somewhere and about a year and a half ago I discovered an old love again.

I also did some research and made a massive beaded rose. I’ll blog about that later because its’ so heavy but pretty awesome.

I’ve also discovered Jalie sewing patterns, but that’s a blog for another time.

So far I have made a beaded cowl, a gorgeous cotton shawl, a potato chip scarf and a lovely blue lace cowl that looks nothing like the picture but I still think is gorgeous and soft.

I have my first cardigan in the works and another shawl which is probably 80% finished. I also learnt the painful lesson of checking how much yarn is needed before starting a project, especially if the yarn is discontinued.

Anyhow, that’s a quick summary of what I’ve been up to. A quick look at the clock told me I should be working on that sleep thing so I’ll sum up this post with a few pics of the first knitting projects and finally, Happy New Year!
